Renata Marie (Deckard) Arthur, 48, of Martinsville, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Indiana University Health Morgan Hospital.

She was born Monday, January 4, 1971 to Phil R. Deckard, Sr. and Glenda F. (Bruner) Deckard in Martinsville. On July 10, 1993, she married her husband, Michael L. “Mike” Arthur.

Renata Ioved spending time with her family, particularly her daughter, Karlee Marie and really enjoyed family gatherings. Renata was an active Dance Mom, Band Mom, and Cheer Mom. She loved watching Karlee compete in dance competitions and traveled all over the United States to see them. She enjoyed watching not only Karlee, but watching all dancers compete and the choreography, sitting for hours at dance competitions enjoying the performances. She loved her movies, soap operas, and podcasts. Renata Ioved all animals, especially her cat and dog, Oreo and Cloe. She had a big heart and loved people. Because of her Type 1 Diabetes, she actively supported the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and American Heart Association. Renata was also a member of Samaria Baptist Church and was a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority.

She is survived by her husband and parents; daughter, Karlee Marie Arthur; brother, Phil Deckard, II and wife Jacque; sisters, Tonya Deckard and Philicia Deckard; her husband’s parents, Bill and Janet Arthur….and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Delbert Cottrell and Pastor Jason Abney officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 at Costin Funeral Chapel and one hour prior to the service Tuesday.

A private graveside committal will be held at a later date in the Clear Creek Cemetery in Bloomington, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana and The American Heart Association.
