Loving father, papaw, son and grandson, Greg A. Martin, gained his angel wings on Wednesday, April 20th, 2022, after a short illness at the young age of 50. His life on earth began on Monday, May 24th, 1971, in Martinsville, Indiana. He was one of two sons born to Mark Lee Martin and Karen Kay (Meadows).
Greg was a lifelong resident of Martinsville and graduated with the class of 1989 from Martinsville High School. He had worked as a real estate appraiser for over 25 years and was the owner of Greg Martin & Associates in Martinsville.
Greg was a member of MIBOR Realtor Association and attended the New Salem Church in Gosport, Indiana. He was an avid IU fan, to put it lightly, as well as a Cincinnati Reds fan. He absolutely loved all sports, was always ready and willing to participate in a good ole’ political debate and above all, he cherished his family. He was an extraordinary father and papaw to his three children and four grandchildren, a devoted son, brother and grandson and a loyal friend to many.
His death has left the hearts of his family and friends shattered, including his son, Isaac (wife, Kimberly) Martin of Martinsville; two daughters, Alexis (fiancé, Gage Kidwell) Martin and Abigail Martin both of Carmel, IN; mother and stepfather, Karen (husband, Marvin) Smith of Gosport; maternal grandmother, Lois Meadows of Bloomington; four beloved grandchildren, Addison Bailey, Brinley Kidwell, and Emma and Linkin Martin; two step brothers, Matt (wife, Stacey) Smith of Florida and Tyler (wife, Brandi) Smith of Martinsville. Greg was also anxiously awaiting the birth of two additional grandchildren this year.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mark Martin in 2016; brother, Scott Lee Martin in 2019; maternal grandfather, Robert Meadows and paternal grandparents, Robert and Myra Martin.
The family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday, April 26th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Neal & Summers Funeral Home in Martinsville. A service celebrating Greg’s life will be on Wednesday, April 27th beginning at 11:00 am at the funeral home and he will be laid to rest following the service in New South Park Cemetery, Martinsville.
