Kari Renee Edwards, 44, a lifetime Martinsville resident passed from this life suddenly on April 8, 2015 at the IU Health Morgan Hospital in Martinsville. She was born December 11, 1970 in Martinsville, IN to Sonja (Keating) Edwards Ferguson and the late Billie Duane Edwards.

During her childhood she attended First Christian Church in Martinsville. Kari graduated from Martinsville High School with the Class of 1989. She formerly worked for Applebee’s Restaurant in Franklin and Plainfield and she was a former CNA. Kari had a love for sports, playing basketball and volleyball while in high school and running track while attending East Middle School. Kari was awarded the Athlete of the Year Award by East Middle School. She was a former runner-up in the Morgan County Fair Queen Contest and she enjoyed reading and watching movies. She especially enjoyed supporting the love of her life, Robert Paris while racing and was known to be his #1 fan.

Kari leaves behind a host of loving friends and family including her mother and step-father, Ed and Sonja (Keating) Ferguson of Camby, IN; love of her life, Robert Paris of Martinsville; daughters, Lindsey Nicole Hewitt of Brownsburg, IN and Haleigh Reneé Hewitt of Avon, IN; step-daughter, Alexis Paris of Greenwood; step-son, Sheldon Paris of Martinsville; sisters, Simi Ann Edwards Ferguson of Martinsville and Gina Lee Edwards Pettigrew of Bradenton, FL; half-sister, Cheryl Ann Cardano (husband, Mark) of Tulsa, OK; step-brothers, Stanley Allen Ferguson (wife, Cathy) of Pensacola, FL; Larry Steven Ferguson (wife, Connie) of Martinsville and Mark Edward Ferguson (wife, Meg) of Greensburg, IN; nephew, Barry Duane Ferguson (wife, Jordan) of Bloomington; half-nephews, Ryan and Austin Cardano and half-niece, Kristen Cardano.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billie Duane Edwards and her grandparents, John and Pauline (Renfro) Keating and Sherril Edwards and Clara Kelsey.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, Apr. 12th from 2-8 p.m. and Monday, Apr. 13th from 11 a.m. until noon at Neal & Summers Funeral & Cremation Center. A service celebrating Kari’s life will begin on Monday at 12 (noon) at the funeral home. Burial will follow at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
